Data privacy and local deployment have become core requirements for engineering teams managing sensitive materials and organizational knowledge.
In the Bennu Labs model, self-hosted architecture means delivering deployable software modules designed to keep data within an operator-controlled deployment contour (VM / Docker / GHCR). It does not require a multi-tenant public SaaS as the primary deployment model.
Actual data locality depends on deployment configuration and selected external model/providers. External API models may still transmit relevant context to the selected provider; local/open-weight models can keep the model layer inside the user's infrastructure.
Understanding operational boundaries is essential: a self-hosted architecture does not automatically ensure zero data egress, absolute confidentiality, or absence of third-party processing. Deployment requires operator qualification, correct network perimeter setup, and integration verification.
